Windmill Park
The Windmill Project was initiated by the Holland Chamber of Commerce in 2000. The Windmill design was selected to capitalize on the name of our town. In the fall of 2001, a local retired contractor 'Armand Desrochers' constructed a small replica of a windmill that was used as a prototype. The construction of the windmill started in June of 2002. Mr. Desrochers was the main lead volunteer who supervised and was in charge of construction. The building was completed in the fall of 2002 at the cost of $36,000.00. All labor to construct this local attraction was donated. An estimated 2,700 hours of volunteer labor went into building the windmill.
Windmill's building is 42 feet tall and the top of the sails are another 10 feet above the structure. The sails are functional and can be turned a quarter of a turn at a time.
