EMO - Home Emergency Plans

Having an emergency plan for your household or family will help you know what to do.

In your emergency plan, it is important to identify emergency exits and safe meeting places, compile a list of emergency contacts and learn how to shut off utilities (eg. water, electricity). Note that emergency plans may look different for various types of emergencies. For example, a tornado plan will require different sheltering than a house fire plan.

Communicate and practice your safety/evacuation plan with household members before an emergency. Emergencies often happen when we do not expect them and can occur when families are not together.

What should you do if your family is across town, or your kids are at school and phone lines are down?

Familiarity with your family's emergency plan will help ensure everyone is aware of what to do when an emergency occurs.
